Our Year 2 children carried out a very prayerful class liturgy this morning on the topic of ‘Special Meals’. Afterwards parents were welcomed to join the children in sharing a special meal. Thank you to all those parents who attended.

Celebrating God’s Mercy
There will be a service for the Year of Mercy held at St. Mary Magdalen’s Church on Wednesday 16th March at 7:00pm. All parents are warmly invited to attend. A leaflet will be given out to the children to take home outlining the details shown below. I do hope you are able to attend.
Exploring British Values
This week some of our Year 5 and 6 children have been exploring the true meaning of ‘British Values’. They looked at a number of key areas which express the true meaning of being ‘British’. These areas included, Equality, Beliefs, Respect, Freedom, Responsibility, Multi faith, Law, Tolerance, Community, Democracy, Voice. The children summarised their work by creating a fabulous display for our school hall. They will be presenting and discussing the key learning points to the rest of the school during assembly next week. If you are visiting school you are more than welcome to take a look at the display and to read the many fascinating facts associated with ‘British Values’.
FORD Castle – residential visit update!
Just a quick note to let parents know our children have left FORD Castle and are making their return back to school. The approximate time of arrival is 4:30pm depending on the traffic. We will let you know if they return any sooner. Yesterday I visited the children and I was really impressed with their commitment , effort and team work. All of the children have had a fantastic time and I’m sure they will have lots of exciting stories to tell you on their return . However, just a word of caution!!! …… please stock up on the washing powder…… you’re definitely going to need it!

Anne Frank Exhibition
Our comprehensive school, St Bede’s, invited our Year 5 and 6 classes to visit their Anne Frank Exhibition. Some of the St Bede’s students led our children through a very interesting and thought-provoking history of Anne’s life and her legacy.
Gym equipment
Some of our Key Stage 2 children have been making great use of the Gym equipment which is currently on loan from Easington Schools Partnership. Used as part of their P.E lesson as well as a Change 4 Life after school club, the children thoroughly enjoyed using all the equipment and worked hard on their fitness levels.
FORD Castle residential visit – Update!
I received a call this morning to say that the children who are attending our residential trip to Northumberland are having a fantastic time! They have been really busy doing lots of activities and they are really enjoying their time working together to overcome challenges! They are travelling to Holy Island today to explore the Lindisfarne Priory and Castle – let’s hope the weather stays dry and there is some sunshine! Photos of all the activities that the children have been doing will be uploaded onto the website, once the children return, so that you can share and enjoy the experience too!
