Making links with the wider world
Pupils are supported in developing their sense of self and in identifying their place in the wider world; they are better able to overcome adversity through developing their cultural capital by understanding the world outside of where they live, while appreciating their locality. Our curriculum provides our pupils with the building blocks to provide a solid foundation to lead them onto secondary, further and higher education. Through our curriculum, pupils are supported, both in helping them to value their place in society and in ensuring their physical and mental wellbeing is secure so that they are able to lead active and fulfilling lives. A focus on ‘aspiration’ and ‘curiosity’ encourages our pupils to extend their learning beyond the school gates and to embrace extended learning which is underpinned by the knowledge and skills acquired within school. Our strong Catholic ethos ensures our curriculum nurtures our pupils so that they value and respect other cultures and faiths. As a result, this provides them with a social and cultural understanding of local, national and global societies and empowers them with the knowledge and understanding necessary to engage and become responsible world citizens.
