The children enjoyed a fantastic day of writing poetry and presenting their work in the celebratory assembly. Well done to all of our fabulous writers.
Macmillan Coffee Morning 2018
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a cup of coffee to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care. A grand total of £526.13 was raised and this will go to support those affected by cancer. The school is very grateful.
European Day of Languages
Each year we celebrate the European Day of Languages to show all of the different Languages spoken across Europe. This year, as a whole school, we celebrated a range of languages on Wednesday 26th September. It was wonderful to see all of the children and staff getting involved, wearing the colours to match their countries flag.
Throughout the day, the children were involved in a range of activities ranging from food tasting to Croatian Folk Dance. I am sure the children will have returned home full of new information about their chosen country.
The children thoroughly enjoyed their day and are already asking which country they will be researching next year! Thank you to all donations to school which totalled: £161.78
Elliot Gala Liturgy – ‘Love one another as I have loved you’
Thank you to all parents/grandparents who joined the Year 6 children for their morning liturgy today. It was a lovely prayerful occasion and an opportunity for all to take time to listen and reflect on the Gospel message – ‘Love one another as I have loved you.’
Welcome Back to School
A warm welcome back to school to all of our children. I hope the summer break has been refreshing and lots of fun! Welcome to our new starters in Reception and to those children, across school, who are joining us for the very first time. Please take a moment this week to pray for our previous Year 6 children who left us in the summer term. We wish them well in their new comprehensive schools and hope they have all settled well into Year7. As we move forward into a new academic year I am confident that, working together, we will have another very successful and productive school year. Best wishes to all.

Whole School Beach Day Postponed
Unfortunately, rain is forecast for our whole school beach day tomorrow. I’m sure you would agree with me that to cancel the visit, due to rain, would be very disappointing for our children. I have therefore rescheduled our whole school beach day and it will now take place on Wednesday 18th July. The arrangements for the day will remain the same as outlined in the information letter sent out to parents last week. I do hope you will be able to join us for a fun day in the sunshine – don’t forget your spade and bucket!
Mr L J Duncan
Year 6 Buddy Afternoon
Our Reception children spent time with their Year 6 buddies for the afternoon. It was a time to say goodbye to our Year 6 buddies and to thank them for all their hard work this year in helping the reception children to settle in school. The children played fun games together and enjoyed an ice cream treat. I’m sure the reception children will always remember their special buddy.
Parents Open Day
Our open parents day was a great opportunity for parents and grandparents to spend time with their children celebrating all their work they have done in school this year. Thank you for all the positive comments made regarding this day and pleased you found this to be a very worthwhile event. We hope to continue this next year.
Year 6 Arched Mass
Our year 6 children joined other year 6 children, across East Durham, in celebrating a Catholic arched mass at Our Lady of the Rosary church in Peterlee. The mass was to celebrate the transition from Primary to Secondary phase and the theme was all about being grateful. Our children did a fabulous liturgical dance and shared with other children across the County in prayer and reflection. Thank you to Father Jackson and Ms Boylen for all their efforts in arranging the day.
