Our Reception children carried out a fabulous class liturgy to celebrate ‘sharing love with one another’. They focussed on the Gospel message and sent out Mother’s Day flowers and messages …”I love my mammy because…”. Thank you to all parents who joined us in school to share such a special moment.
Red Nose Day 2017 – What fun we all had!
The school had a fun filled day to celebrate Red Nose Day 2017. Lots of fundraising events took place throughout the day. Our ‘Mini Vinnies’ held a ‘Tell us your joke’ competition, the school council washed the staff cars to raise money and a surprisingly large number of pupils and staff donated money to see poor Mr Duncan get dunked at the end of the day!! A fantastic £459.23 was raised for good causes – well done everyone!
A BIG well done to our fantastic swimmers!
A very BIG well done to our school swimming team who took part in the swimming finals at Peterlee. The children came 6th overall out of 90 teams! It is lovely to see our children ‘shine’ and showcasing their fantastic talents. St Mary Magdalen’s is very proud of you all!
Redacre and 4H Class Liturgy
Thank you to all parents who came into school to share their child’s class liturgy. Both Redacre class and Year 4 did a beautiful liturgy which highlighted key Gospel values and started the school day off in such a special way.
Fleetrock Class Liturgy
Thank you to all who came along and shared a fabulous liturgy with Fleetrock class this week. The children sent forth a message of love and highlighted the importance of self reflection and thanking God for all that we have.
Year 2 Football Festival
Some of our Year 2 children took part in a football tournament at Soccarena today. Competing against other local schools, they showed some fine footballing talent and managed to come second in their group. Congratulations to everyone who took part! Year 5 at the Centre for Life
Year 5 had an extremely enjoyable and interesting trip to the Centre for Life today where they had an opportunity to take part in various experiments and workshops which extended their understanding of forces in space.
Football finalists
Congratulations to the A team who, after playing in the Barry Sutherland Cup last night, managed to qualify for the final. More details about the final will follow.
Year 3/4 Football Festival
Congratulations to our Year 4 footballers who displayed their impressive football skills at the Easington Schools Football festival.
The boys worked hard as a team and finally came runners up in their group. Well done to everyone who took part.
Superintendent Calls into Year6
As part of the Year 6 ‘Crime and Punishment’ topic, Superintendent Milner, from Northumbria Police, called into Year 6 to talk to the children all about the work of the police force and the detection of crime. Inspector Milner talked about DNA, finger printing, footprint detection, use of GPS in locating criminals and a brief history of the police force. The children ended their talk with Inspector Milner highlighting the importance of e-safety. The children and staff would like to thank Superintendent Milner for his time and very informative session – the children loved it!
