School Garden begins to Grow!

11th May 2017 By spidrwebadmin

Our school kitchen garden is beginning to burst into life. With the help from some kind volunteers our children have begun planting a range of vegetables and fruit. The children and staff have discovered many interesting new facts about growing healthy food and realised that gardening is not just educational but fun too! Thank you to all parent helpers who have shared their skills during planting or donated resources to the school. We will keep posting regular updates on how the garden is growing.

New Visitors to Reception

11th May 2017 By spidrwebadmin

Our Reception children are currently learning all about ‘Growing’. As part of their learning they are looking after a number of eggs in the hope that they will all hatch into lovely young chicks. They have learned that it is very important to keep the eggs warm and to turn them regularly, just as a mother hen would do. They hope that the first chick will hatch in approximately 21 days time.

Reception Intruder!

11th May 2017 By spidrwebadmin

There was a mysterious break-in at school! Someone had broken into our reception class and made a terrible mess! The police were called and the crime scene was made secure. Who did this terrible act? Our Reception children were determined to find out and they made sure all suspects were questioned and finger printed. Even the headteacher, Mr Duncan, couldn’t escape being interrogated. Finally the culprit was identified and it was no other than …….the big bad GIANT!

Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant Visits School

30th March 2017 By spidrwebadmin

The Mayor and Mayoress of Durham visited school this week along with another very important visitor. The Queens’s Lord–Lieutenant (British monarch’s personal representative in each county of the United Kingdom) visited school to talk to the children and to share her experiences and to outline the role that she does. Lord -Lieutenant, Mrs Sue Snowden, had a tour of the school and called into each classroom to speak with the children and to answer a range of questions. We must say, both children and staff thoroughly enjoyed meeting and speaking with Lord -Lieutenant Snowden who was extremely friendly and full of fascinating facts.  We hope she enjoyed her visit into school and she is always welcome to visit again in the future.
