Governor – Mr L J Duncan

It is an honour to be the Headteacher of such a loving and caring school such as St. Mary Magdalen’s R.C Primary School. I certainly feel very privileged to be part of such a vibrant and welcoming school community and to have been afforded the opportunity to work with such fantastic children, staff and all associated with the school.

I began my teaching career 20 years ago and have worked within a number of school settings and Local Authorities. However, I have not always been a teacher! I initially trained as a Civil Engineer and spent the early part of my working career helping to develop irrigation systems within rural parts of Africa.

My vision, as Headteacher, is to continue to provide high quality education for all the children in our care, recognising individual talents and ensuring that opportunities are provided so that all can reach their full potential. I am committed in promoting Catholic values that seek not only to achieve excellence intellectually, but also spiritually and I will strive to ensure that every child within school is nurtured so that they may grow to become confident, caring and compassionate young people.

As a dad to two young boys, I fully understand how important it is to offer our children a range of learning experiences and opportunities which allow them to flourish. I believe that your child has the potential to do amazing things and that if we work together to support their learning journey this potential can become a reality!
